Let’s face, no matter how much we claim we don’t care what others think, we really do want others to think well of us. That applies doubly when it comes to their opinions about whether or not we are a good parent. No one wants to be listed in the “Mommy Dearest Top Ten.” So how do we dress our infant girl or buy toddler boys clothing and not break the bank?
Yes, fortunately with young babies we are sometimes blessed with an abundance of hand-me-downs but as the our infant girl or toddler boy grows that supply also dwindles. So when we are setting up our budget, our baby’s wardrobe needs to be addressed.
Being on a budget does not mean our infant or toddler can not look like a million bucks. People often take their gently used baby clothes to second hand shops to be sold for charity or on consignment. You can often find very good quality and popular labels for highly discounted prices. One bonus of infant and toddler clothing is that babies out grown them so quickly that the used clothing often looks brand new when it is passed on. Also if you want your child’s seconds to look like firsts, you only need add a bit of trim or applique a cute picture for a completely new look.
Another trick to spruce up a not-so-new outfit is to add a matching hat to your boy toddler or hair ribbon to your infant girl. Another style tip is to look to vintage styles for inspiration with your toddler girls clothes just like you might with your own. Don’t be afraid to be adventurous. This is one time in your child’s life when you can have fun with dressing them and don’t run the risk of embarrassing them in front of their friends. Start your child out as a trendsetter or one who stands out in a crowd and you may be giving them a foundation on which to become tomorrow’s world leaders.
